And we’re on the road to Wrestlemania! This year with the brand split we have a return to one of the old favourite Pay Per Views: The Elimination Chamber. It’s been a few years since this last happened so it’s a welcome return to the fold. Although it’s in the daft place between The Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, it will end up shaping the biggest show of the year. So who will enter the biggest show of the year as champion? Here are our WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 Predictions.
WWE Elimination Chamber Match
John Cena (c) vs. AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz vs. Baron Corbin vs. Bray Wyatt
This is set to be quite a good match with a good line up. You have Cena who has just taken over the title again for a record 16th time, and he is going up against AJ Styles who is sore after losing the championship to Cena so it could well be explosive between those two! Then throw into the mix Bray Wyatt who I am sure will be bringing his A game to the chamber cell. We also have Dean Ambrose – who of course we all know is one of my favourite wrestlers at the moment, it’s the crazy in him – it speaks to the crazy in me! We have the ruthless Baron Corbin also appearing, it will be interesting to see him and how he fares against the veteran superstars he will be up against. I reckon he can well and truly hold his own though. And last of all we have the Miz – my least favourite character but at least he will have to go this one alone without the tricks of his wife interfering!
The chamber starts with 4 of the stars in glass pods and hosts steel floors and chain link walls. The remaining 2 stars will kick the match off and the pods will release the captured 4 stars at regular intervals until all 6 competitors have been released. There is no knowing who will be released at which point as it is done at random. Elimination is by pinfall or submission only and there is all to fight for with the WWE Championship on the line. Will Cena manage to retain the title after all he has only had it for 5 minutes? Or will AJ manage to steal it back from him? What would be interesting is if Bray Wyatt won it and held onto it so that he has to face his “brother” Randy Orton at Wrestlemania as we know he is going to get a headline match following his win at the Rumble. I think Bray is a dark horse coming into this match. Yes he is a superstar and he wins his share of matches and is an excellent wrestler, but when is it going to be his time to take it up a notch? This could very well be his chance.
This match is really a hard one to call if I am honest. As it is going to be close I think between Cena, AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt, with a bit of interference from the other 3. Whilst I do think it would be interesting to lead it up to Bray going against Orton for the Championship am I sure that this really is his time just now? I think if Cena is going to lose the championship it is going to be to Bray Wyatt rather than AJ Styles.
It’s a risky one but I think I am going to back Bray Wyatt to win this one.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt Wins
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (c) vs Naomi
Naomi is raring to go with this match. After pinning Bliss twice in a matter of days in tag matches to gain wins – can she do it in a singles match? Alexa Bliss has disrespected Naomi by announcing that competing against Naomi is beneath her and that Naomi is no match for the Champ. Naomi has been around the WWE for quite a while now and has never managed to become a women’s champion – could this be her time? Or is Bliss right that Naomi just doesn’t have what it takes? Naomi has been waiting a long time for this and they have been building her up a lot more recently. I think she genuinely deserves a shot. A lot of fans are also calling out for a victory from Naomi this weekend. It is a shame they didn’t put this into the first women’s chamber match though as that would have made it way more interesting to watch. I think that this has been set up for Naomi to take the championship in front of her home crowd. I don’t know how long realistically I can see her being champ for if she does win it though but for now it is looking to be going in her favour.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss Wins
Randy Orton vs Luke Harper
I have to be honest I am quickly getting a bit bored of the whole ‘estranged brother’ thing that the Wyatt family have going on at the moment. I don’t hold out much hope for this match being that interesting if I am honest. There is plenty of talk that Bray Wyatt still has control over Luke Harper and is orchestrating this in the background, which would play straight into the storyline of there being a rivalry between Orton and Wyatt as they come face to face for the title at Mania… could Elimination Chamber be setting all of this up? Even so it doesn’t give a clear indication as to which way this match will go. I honestly think that Orton will win this one but it is going to cause issues further down the line in the Wyatt family.
Prediction: Randy Orton Wins
Nikki Bella vs Natalya
This story again is getting a bit tiresome. Natalya has seemingly had it in for Nikki Bella since she returned from injury and has been doing whatever it takes to take her down. Natalya has accused Nikki of getting her success simply because she is all loved up with Cena and her brother in law Daniel Bryan is the general manager of the SmackDown brand, so doors are being opened for her a lot more than if she was going it alone. Whilst Natalya is a veteran in her own right with a long line of family connections to the WWE world, is she up to their standards and does she have what it takes to take down Nikki Bella once and for all? Nikki was the longest reigning Diva’s champion when she held the title and there was good reason for that. She is extremely good at what she does. Whilst I do think this match on the whole isn’t going to be the most exciting part of the evening, it is always a pleasure to watch Nikki Bella in action and I do think she will stand victorious in this match up.
Prediction: Nikki Bella Wins
Smackdown Tag Team Championship Turmoil Match
American Alpha (c) vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. Breezango vs. The Uso’s vs. The Ascension vs. The Vaudevillains
So American Alpha’s are going to put their tag team championships on the line this weekend in a Tag Team Championship Turmoil Match. They will go up against The Usos, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Breezango, The Ascension and the Vaudevillains. In this match it starts with 2 teams in the ring, and once one team is out another will replace them until only one team are remaining, making them the tag team champions. I think that American Alpha’s are not really at the height of their reign as champions just yet – so I think they will go on to retain the championship. I think their main competition in this matchup is going to be The Ascension as I don’t really see the other teams matching up to the Alphas at the moment. It will be an interesting match to watch – if not a bit busy with there being 12 men all in it to win it!
Prediction: American Alpha Wins
Mickie James vs Becky Lynch
This is an ongoing feud between the two superstars after Becky Lynch blames Mickie James for costing her the rematch and therefore her title shot to win back her championship from Alexa Bliss. I think this could be one of the more exciting women’s matches of the night purely because of the standard of wrestling that these two women will bring to the ring. Whilst I do think that they will have their work cut out facing each other is not going to be an easy feat for either of them. I do think that Becky Lynch has got the fire and passion it’s going to take to put Mickie James away and hopefully put an end to her once and for all. But Mickie James won’t be coming to the ring without her fair share of tricks up her sleeve – so it remains to be seen if Becky Lynch will win fair and square or will Mickie James win with some more of her dirty tricks? My money is on Becky Lynch!
Prediction: Becky Lynch
2-on-1 Handicap Match
Apollo Crews & Kalisto vs Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler has gone on a bit of a mad rampage against both Apollo Crews and Kalisto resulting in this matchup of the 2 of them against him. Ziggler has attacked both Crews and Kalisto recently with others coming to their aid to help them. He is adamant he can beat them both in one go, but is he forgetting the shear talent that he is going up against here with both of the rising superstars in one go? Surely this will come down to a numbers game, as Ziggler doesn’t need to be any more big headed than he already is. I think this match will give Crews and Kalisto the chance they have been waiting for to even the score against Ziggler and knock him back into his place – for a while…. Until he finds someone else to go and pick on… Let’s hope so anyway!
Predictions: Apollo Crews & Kalisto
