Yet another weekend is upon us and you know what that means in WWE world…. Yep you guessed it – yet another pay per view! So fasten your seatbelts as we head into Battleground… There are a couple of interesting matches on the card – and a couple I will probably not mind if I need to put the kettle on at those points. So lets have a look at what’s coming up.

WWE Championship – Punjabi Prison Match

Jinder Mahal (c) vs Randy Orton

These two go head to head again for the WWE Championship in a Punjabi Prison Match. Mahal set the match stipulation as Orton already lost his rematch. These two will fight to the death if recent weeks are anything to go by. Orton has been like a bear with a sore paw since he lost the title and has lost no time at all in threatening everyone who may come between him and the title again.  It could go either way with these two super stars locked in the prison together, however my money is on Mahal retaining his title.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal to win

Flag Match

John Cena vs Rusev

This match is a flag match. Rusev has insulted the USA one too many times and Cena is not happy. As one of the most patriotic Americans on the WWE roster Rusev has gone a step too far this time and so Cena has agreed to this match to defend the honour of the USA against the Bulgarian Brute. The first star to get their countries flag from above the turn buckles in the ring will be declared the winner. I can’t really see any way that an American company is going to allow a Bulgarian to declare himself better than them, is this why the WWE are sending in the big guns with Cena representing? Either way I don’t see Cena losing this

Prediction: John Cena to win

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Usos (c) vs The New Day

The Smackdown Tag Team Championship is up for grabs again and once again The New Day have their eyes on it. They could have won at Money in the Bank however The Usos decided to play dirty and force a count out which saw them retain their titles. Can The New Day beat them this time round? They are such a happy feel good team that you can’t help but smile as they are dancing down to the ring. I would love to see them regain the titles but I can’t help feeling that the WWE have more in store for The Usos at the moment. It remains to be seen if they will win fair and square this time or if they will use dirty tactics again….

Prediction: The Usos to win

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Baron Corbin

This match has been a long time coming really. Baron Corbin has had his sights set on the former NXT champion for weeks now and they finally come head to head this weekend to settle their differences. This match up looks set to be as brutal as it will get this weekend. These two superstars will certainly be all in for that all important victory and it stands to get very firy! This is certainly a match that you won’t want to nip and stick the kettle on – send the other half instead that’s my advice! It could go either way with regards to who will walk away victorious. I think I want to see Nakamura win though – just because I so enjoy his winning.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura to win

WWE United States Championship

AJ Styles (c) vs Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has challenged AJ Styles for the United States Championship this weekend. The conflict and rivalry between these two has been hotting up for a few weeks now with both of them believing that they are the best in their brand. Both Superstars are known for being angry unforgiving competitors so this match up stands to be quite a clash. Who will walk away with the belt at the end of it? You probably don’t want to miss this match as I suspect it will be quite eventful. I cannot get behind Kevin Owens to win though – he is insufferable when he holds a title. And for that reason I am going to back AJ Styles to win.

Prediction: AJ Styles to win

Five Way Elimination Match

Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch vs Natalya vs Tamina vs Lana

This women’s match is a five-way elimination match. The winner will go on to face Naomi at Summerslam for the women’s championship so the stakes are very high here. Will Charlotte see off all her opponents in her bid to become queen of the locker room again? These matches are always easier to try and work out who is least likely to win first. So I would probably scratch Natalya off from the start…. I feel she may be there to make numbers up. There are a lot of rumours surrounding Tamina and the WWE seem to have some sort of focus on her so they could be gearing this up for her to take the win here and go on to face Naomi at SummerSlam… we could be surprised though and Becky Lynch could come through on the night, it honestly could go one of several ways. I just don’t see Lana or Natalya coming out victorious. I think I may have to give in to the rumours and back Tamina on this occasion.

Prediction: Tamina to win
