It’s time to throw the old rule book out of the window for a night! That’s it folks Extreme Rules is back this weekend and as exciting as ever! Regular rules are gone and in their place are – as it says on the tin – a set of extreme rules that the superstars normally wouldn’t get away with – so here’s to hoping for a spectacular show! Let’s have a look at the line up and have a shot at some predictions shall we? Here are our WWE Extreme Rules 2018 Predictions.

WWE Championship

AJ Styles (c) vs Rusev

Can Rusev unseat the phenomenal one from his throne as WWE Champ this weekend? Rusev has pretty much bulldozed half of the locker room in order to get to this point and get his chance in the square circle with Styles. Can he bulldoze his way through this match? Lets not forget the phenomenal match that AJ Styles had against Nakamura to win the title… Can we expect more of the same from Styles here? I think the answer is a resounding YES! I don’t think Styles is ready to give up the title yet and I want to see him retain it for a while longer…. possibly until a challenger I like comes along to take it… I just don’t see Rusev as the WWE Champ as much as I try. I do think that he will put on an amazing show and there will be a lot of awesome moves from both sides but I do think that Styles will have the edge this weekend.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley

These two were originally colleagues embarking on a path to try and get to the Universal Championship title shot. However in true WWE style they have now become fierce opposition with several heated moments leading up to this match. There’s no title to be exchanged here – just a battle to get one up on the other and have bragging rights for now. Both superstars have something to prove here, Reigns is The Guy and all that jazz, he wants to be top dog in the playground but then we have Lashley returning to the WWE and looking to climb to the top of the pack as quickly as possible, and what better way to do it than to beat Reigns in an all out brawl in the ring. I actually would like to see Lashley win this one, partly because as good as Reigns is I just cannot take to him, and partly because I like to see new and returning stars get a chance rather than being kept at the back of the locker room to gather dust…

Prediction: Bobby Lashley

Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs Team Hell No

Argh is anyone else just so god damned happy right now that Daniel Bryan and Kane are back together with Team Hell No?! I mean come on!!! I am so excited for this I love this pair together! I think Daniel Bryan is an amazing wrestler and I am so glad he is back in the ring again doing what he does best! The Bludgeon Brothers need putting in their place and I hope this weekend that is what will happen! I could go on and on about this particular match because I am that excited in general to see Team Hell No again – as I am sure are a lot of the WWE universe! I think all of us will be behind Team Hell No this weekend. I don’t even really want to talk about The Bludgeon Brothers – I can’t bring myself to – my excitement won’t allow it!

Prediction: Team Hell No

Intercontinental Championship 30 Minute Iron Man Match

Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Seth Rollins

So this match is going to be a 30 minute Iron Man match meaning it could go either way, the match will continue for the full 30 minutes and the superstar at the end with the most decisions will be the winner and will call themselves Intercontinental Champ. Ziggler took the belt from Rollins and then Rollins was denied a win against Ziggler in his rematch. The big question hanging over this match is if we can expect Drew McIntyre to come and interfear in the match again? He has been instrumental so far in helping Ziggler gain and retain the title. I think we can fully expect some sort of interference this weekend. I want to see Rollins win this match but I just don’t think he will, Ziggler has relied too much on help and I think this match won’t be any different.

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler

WWE United States Championship

Jeff Hardy (c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura

So in typical WWE style there has been a build up to this match pitting these two superstars in a heated rivalry against each other in the last few weeks. It is all set to come to a head this weekend where they will step in the ring with the title up for grabs. As much as I look forward to watching Nakamura in the ring, I don’t really have much interest or enthusiasm for this upcoming match. I don’t know why that is I am sure it will be spectacular but I am not sure I am really invested one way or the other in who wins, I am happy to see either of these superstars win. I think we will see a good match as both superstars are absolute powerhouses and have a phenomenal arsenal of moves. I do hope Nakamura wins – I have supported him from the minute he entered the WWE and I do like to watch him wrestle. I won’t be devastated if I am wrong here though.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura

RAW Women’s Championship

Alexa Bliss (c) vs Nia Jax

Well this match looks like it could be alright. These two were such good friends but we simply cannot have that in the WWE as it wouldn’t sell tickets now would it? These two women superstars are going head to head again with the title up for grabs. Jax is not over the fact that Bliss cashed in the money in the bank contract to reclaim her championship title from her in a match against Ronda Rousey. Understandably Rousey is also pretty narked at this turn of events and believes she should have the title. So I fully expect we could see some interference from her in this match as she has promised to have a front row seat to watch. I doubt very much that she will stay there! Again this match could go either way, I am not going to be too heartbroken whichever superstar wins. I do think that Bliss will retain the title though and possibly then end up going head to head with Rousey at a later date. That’s my prediction anyway.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss

SmackDown’s Women’s Championship

Carmella (c) vs Asuka

Well this is going to be a furious match. Carmella has had quite a run recently but is she really any match up for Asuka. Asuka has over 900 days undefeated reign under her belt. The only reason that Carmella was able to defeat Asuka at all was due to interference from James Ellworth, and for that reason Ellworth will be suspended from the roof above the ring in a shark cage. He can’t help Carmella this time, she is completely at the mercy of Asuka. It will be interesting to see how long she can hold up against the assault from Asuka but I honestly don’t think she has a chance in hell of walking away victorious this weekend without some sort of interference.

Prediction: Asuka

RAW Tag Team Championship

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt (c) vs The B Team

This is another match I am not too fussed about. I don’t think there is much hype about this one going around and it seems to be a bit of a filler match. I might go and get a brew whilst this one unfolds. I honestly think that they needed to shove Hardy & Wyatt in a match this weekend so have just thrown this one together. It’s not caught my interest whatsoever. Hardy & Wyatt will win because that’s what makes sense. Never mind them being the “Woken” – I might need to be woken once this match is over.

Prediction: Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt

Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin

So the final match in my write up. And of course it has one of my favourite Irish lads in. Yes yes I know – I like all the Irish lads! But come on – Finn Balor is worthy of admiration no? Anyway, this weekend sees him go up against Baron Corbin who is standing in for Stephanie McMahon at the moment, so he could play very dirty and put in any match stipulations he wants in order to get one up on Balor. But I am 100% behind Balor this weekend and will be cheering him on. Corbin is just trying to throw his weight around and boss the superstars about. He needs to be put back in his box and in his place. Hopefully this weekend will see Balor do just that!

Prediction: Finn Balor
