After what was a pretty decent Summerslam we’re now into the lull of the Autumn. Things are happening – we’ve I think 3 or 4 pay per views between now and Survivor Series, in various parts of the world, and with a number of interesting stipulations (such as the all female Pay-Per-View Evolution, and the all male Pay-Per-View rumoured to be taking place in Saudi Arabia – yay oppression). Nothing however is too memorable, as the more-is-more mentality means things are getting lost in the shuffle a bit. Anyway, strange booking aside and strange booking times are ahead, here are our WWE Hell in a Cell Predictions.
WWE Universal Championship – Hell in a Cell
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Braun Strowman
(Mick Foley is the Special Guest Referee)
So, after nearly 3 years of build – Roman Reigns is the world champion. And there was much* rejoicing (* there wasn’t). I’m concerned as they did smash & grab during Summerslam in teasing a cash in. They cannot keep doing that, and even though he’s a heel, and Reigns is being paired with The Shield to make him look cool, there is every chance Braun is being cheered.
Which leads me to the additional factor in making Reigns look good: lovable babyface legend Mick Foley is the referee for this match. I’m not sure it will work, but Strowman is likely to come up short in this – his Money in the Bank cash in.
Prediction: Roman Reigns Wins
WWE Championship
AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe
Onto the WWE Championship match, with AJ facing Samoa Joe. The way this match ended and the brutality shown I was half expecting this to be in the cell, but alas – the Orton/Hardy feud is deemed to be more important. For reasons.
I feel like they’ve made a big deal of Styles reaching 300 days, so part of me is expecting him to eventually overtake CM Punk and become the longest reigning modern champion. For that happens, he needs to win here.
Prediction: AJ Styles Wins
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship
Charlotte (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Again, another match that I feel could have been justifiably put in the cell. Of all the turns they’ve recently done, Becky Lynch – the lovable babyface who has a point with her turn – is probably going to be the least successful as, to be honest, I feel as though Charlotte is so unlikable.
I can see Charlotte winning here. They are scheduled to face over the next few months anyway, and I’ve no idea what they are doing with the turn of Lynch, but this feud does need to have a point with Lynch becoming champion.
Prediction: Charlotte Wins
Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
So Daniel Bryan is tied up in a contract and not going anywhere for the time being. This was expected to be honest. So we get a glimpse of the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge tournament – with Bryan and Brie taking on the A-Listers in a battle of the reality TV shows.
Now with Bryan under a contract, I feel that Bryan will be given a win here, before the rubber match at WWE Down Under in 2 weeks, with a #1 contendership on the line. I feel like Brie will pin Maryse mind.
Prediction: Bryan & Brie
WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
So, “Ready” Ronda Rousey (seriously, how many times did she say “Ready” in her match?!?!) has her rematch against Alexa Bliss. The first match wasn’t exactly a classic, but Ronda is less than 10 matches in. Still champion, and probably too early for my liking, but she hasn’t been bad.
I can feel this match being poor, and hopefully Alexa gets a bit more of a showing, otherwise I feel this could be another squash. Ronda to win.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey
Hell in a Cell Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Seriously, why is this match in the cell?
This feud, whilst giving Orton a bit of a new zest on life, does not quite have some of the level of brutality as some of the other matches on the blue brand. Furthermore, Jeff Hardy has gone on record stating he’s hurting, so surely putting him in a match with known risks is a bit daft?
Unless, this is it. This is Jeff Hardy’s last match as the daredevil. I wouldn’t blame him, but one last crazy spot before hanging up the crazy stuff seems almost a logical thing to do. If that is the case, Hardy to win also seems logical.
Prediction: Jeff Hardy
WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins
Onto this match, and it’s The Shield reunification vs Ziggler & McIntyre. Ziggler & McIntyre are doing something, but they haven’t exactly been setting the world alight. But they are there, tied into the Strowman/Reigns feud.
This should be amazing on paper, or possibly steal the show, but I just have no vested interest. I feel like Ziggler & McIntyre are to retain, before they go down under.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The New Day (c) vs. Rusev & Aiden English
The flip flop of Rusev Day continues as they are heels against a long term babyfaces The New Day. Except I think they’re heels. Depends if Lana speaks in a bad girl Russian or good girl American accent. That depends their alignment.
Anyway. New Day to win this thrown together match.
Prediction: The New Day
