WWE Payback 2017 – Predictions

So here we are, moments after Wrestlemania and its time to settle some scores among the WWE locker room. Some of these scores have been “settled” many times now… but still – we go again! After the movement of some starts from RAW to Smackdown there are new feuds brewing and new storylines emerging – so the coming months could have a bit of new excitement coming our way. But let’s see what’s in store for us this weekend at Payback – the retaliation PPV! Here are our WWE Payback 2017 Predictions.

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

So these two powerhouses are at each other again. Strowman has shown he more than has what it takes to put Reigns in an ambulance – and then tip it! This promises to be quite a brutal match as both of these men will stop at nothing to beat their rival. Is Reigns recovered enough from the previous assault he endured earlier this month? Will that hinder him in the ring on Sunday? Strowman is at full strength and ready to bring it hard and heavy this weekend. After Reigns retired the Undertaker at Mania I can’t help enjoying watching him take a beating if I am honest! I don’t want to see him win so I will be sitting firmly in the Strowman corner this weekend!

Prediction: Braun Strowman wins

WWE United States Championship Match

Kevin Owens (c) vs Chris Jericho

Yes – these two are STILL going at it…. anyone else wondering where this is going to end? I am not sure what else there really is to put about this pair – once BFF’s, now bitter enemies. Lashing out and costing each other various opportunities leading right up to Mania where Owens took the United States Championship from Jericho. I honestly see that Owens will retain the championship in this match as we are headed towards Summer now and I fully expect Jericho will be taking some time out to top up his tan – how they will work that into the story line I don’t know but… You heard it here first!

Prediction: Kevin Owens Wins

RAW Tag Team Championship

The Hardy Boyz (c) vs Cesaro and Sheamus

Well – what an absolute shocker when the Hardy Boyz returned at Mania! Who saw that coming? And what a brilliant match that was! The Hardy Boyz certainly know how to put on a show don’t they? And I expect this match will be nothing less than what we have been seeing from them since their return. Sheamus and Cesaro have become a great team working together to work their way up again to the number 1 contender spot. Such an odd pairing but yet it works. Do they have what it takes to unseat the Hardy Boyz? Can the Hardy Boyz continue to hold onto the titles and reign supreme over the tag teams? I think they do have the edge – even though it pains me to say it as we all know I have a soft spot for the Celtic Warrior!

Prediction: The Hardy Boyz wins

House of Horrors Match

Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt

Again another feud that has been going on a bit now, but the next instalment for these two superstars sees them go head to head in the first ever House of Horrors match in WWE history. At this point it isn’t exactly known what a House of Horrors match entails…. but as Bray Wyatt called it we can expect it to be pretty brutal and spectacular. I am quite looking forward to watching this match just to see what Wyatt brings to the table. As the two are now split between the brands this could be the last clash between them we see for a while as I don’t see really how they can carry this on when they don’t cross each others paths. I think I want to see Bray Wyatt win this match – and as he is calling the shots I think he has the edge going into the ring… Does Randy Orton know what he has let himself in for??

Prediction: Bray Wyatt to win

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Neville (c) vs Austin Aries

A Wrestlemania rematch sees these two stars go head to head again for the Cruiserweight Championship. After Neville decided to play dirty at Mania, attacking Aries and risking further injuring him just so he could retain his title. Aries gets another chance to go after Neville now and issue him some payback for his dirty play. Does he have what it takes? Is he fully back on form after his surgery? Time will tell, he certainly held his own quite well at Mania and it even looked for a time like he was going to win. I honestly want to see a bit more excitement from the Cruiserweight division if I am honest. I don’t know what that will take – could it be Aries at the top? Or does it require Neville to stay on his throne?

Prediction: Neville to win

Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe

This match I think is going to make me cringe. Seth Rollins is not long back from injury thanks to Samoa Joe going after his previously injured knee again prior to Mania. But Rollins pulled through and went on to beat Triple H at Mania – which should have been the end of it, but of course…. it was not! Samoa Joe is the latest in a long line of superstars to be favoured by Triple H and therefore he is coming to stand up to Rollins now at Payback. It remains to be seen as to how this is going to play out and if Rollins will be able to walk away at the end of the match. We know Joe is going to go after that knee again, and again. But then Rollins has just defeated Triple H so really Joe shouldn’t be that hard should he? I want to see Rollins go on winning, I want to see him back at the top where he belongs so I am rooting for him to win this one!

RAW Women’s Championship

Bayley (c) vs Alexa Bliss

So Alexa Bliss has jumped over to RAW and straight away into a title shot against Bayley. Alexa Bliss has gone from strength to strength since coming up to the main roster – as has Bayley, but we all knew the loveable hugger would shine wherever she is within the WWE. Bliss came up and went straight to the top of Smackdown, and now she is looking to do the same over at RAW. She just needs to go through Bayley to get there. Bayley has had to work hard so far to keep her title since she kicked Queen Charlotte to the ground. She is certainly proving her worth as champ and she will go on to prove it again as she comes up against Bliss. This isn’t the first time the two have met in the ring so Bayley should be prepared for Bliss, but then Bliss has come on leaps and bounds since her NXT days. Can Bayley hold onto her title? I think so, no one wants to see the WWE sweetheart lose…

Prediction: Bayley to win
